    Hey guys,

the unrealengine forum is already full of good ideas. I think that this community is UT’s finest and maybe longest active. I think a collection and emphasis of our ideas is a good thing.

I try to maintain a list of forum posts in epics-forum and eventually we will get the ultimate UT game.

List of links to unrealengine forum:
    GitzZz – competitive gameplay
    mAd – shoutcast, demo/replay
    Wormbo – anti-cheat
    zelvzz – ask a pro
    Falcon – competitive features
    nite – poll on dodge-jumps

As always, read before you post. Let me know if you added your thougths so I can add them to this list here. I also try to scan the forum and add good posts here, too.

    Cheers,
    Mad

    *Update*
See Epics post on competitive gaming. (Thanks Falcon)

    *Update 2*
    Adrenaline anyone?

    *Update 3*
The movement development is in full speed but now they are about to add weapons and power-ups. First thoughts are shared here.

    *Update 4*
Thoughts on visible ingame pickup timer

Looks like they are focusing on the UT4 movement first. night is on his game and is involved in many threads!!! nice nite.
I copied the following links out of his signature. They feature some early thoughts on movements and show also video footage of how movement could look like. These links should be considered as first thoughts on movement development – nothing else. Still nice to see some dodging ;-)

yeah, the combination of these prototypes would be cool imo

boost-dodge, slam, dodge-from-players, climbing, etc-etc many good and new ideas that should be included in the base movement

if they rly wrote this https://forums.unrealengine.com/showthread.php?6697-Unreal-Tournament-and-competitive-gaming srsly, i have no doubt ut4 will rock

because lets face it, ut99 is fun and all but its movement just not suitable for up-to-date games, even if its “unreal tournament” and “old-schoolness” its not enough

and ofc the weapon-balance should be rly revamped as well to get rid of the sniper/shock/lg domination and force people to think actually ( a lot lower fire-rate on hitscan weapons and higher on projectiles )

and this im saying not to make hitscan useless but to strip down its ability to work in every scenario

I don’t think Epic gives a shit about self-proclaimed ‘pro’ players or competitive players, particularly when the post doesn’t really give any details besides what was already outline and required for a community-produced UT title.

It was nothing more than trying to get people on-side giving them the impression that they are special like everyone else.

Some UT4 action but more important some of the people behind UT4:

    PS: Note the level-environment moving?

Here’s a post from the developers giving a C++ alpha dummy of potential movement dynamics. It looks like this is to mock around and get a feeling of the UT4 movement. It probably rather for the developers, although, a quick look at the possible settings provides some cool insight.

    Yo again everyone,
reading all this hype around UT4 lately and seen a lot of “new” ideas in it. All good n stuff but I´m not sure about the outcome. Look at the Starcraft series for example. Still massively competetive with still massive playerbase. IMO its because they havent changed the concept/gameplay much. Eventho FPS genre is a bit different story it would be awesome to have ut2k4 ported with the “old” weapon and movement system into new engine. I always dreamed about it. Those(us) few brave dozens will keep rocking it another 10years if the new shiny unreal tournament will not prevail.

I have no doubts that the graphics will be kick-ass. I just hope they focus on this too much…
