We are proud to announce the UnrealNorth Mixed Format Cup (from here now on known as UMFC). This cup will take place on Sunday 13th of April. The UMFC will combine 2on2 TDM with 1on1. The brackets will be played during the day, and the finals during the evening.
The Format and Rules
A match will be a best out of three (meaning the first team to win 2 maps wins the match), where the first two maps will be played as 2on2, and the decider map (if needed) will be 1on1. During the day the 2on2 maps are predetermined, while teams can select their map during the finals. The decider map (for the 1on1 game) is selected using elimination. The team with the highest number of frags on both maps decides which team starts eliminating maps (and thus which team gets to select the played map out of the two remaining maps).
Games should be played on a server with UTComp, and Netcode is disabled. Teams should be present and recognisable in #unrealnorth on quakenet throughout the tournament. Failure to show up on time will result in a match loss. Too frequently have tournaments been ruined by people registering but showing up late, delaying the whole tournament. If you registered but for some reason cannot make it please let us know in advance.
Teams can sign up over here. Make sure all players that want to play are part of your team. Signups will close on Sunday 6th of April. After that date we will make an announcement about the concrete time schedule that will be used.
We have decided to provide a mix of popular maps as well as known, but less frequently played ones. For TDM the newcomer map is DM-Rusing. For 1on1 we will be using the latest version of DM-Sateca, namely DM-Sateca-SE. This last map has shown itself to be a good alternative to the usually played 1on1 maps. Note that Rankin is only part of the TDM maps.
Mokum-X will be providing us with a couple of servers that can be used throughout the tournament. Players that have other servers at their disposal are encouraged to share these so that all games can be played in a timely manner.
We will provide UTV throughout the tournament. We are in the process of working on shoutcasting and streaming, and should be able to provide more information once the tournament date is closer.
